Clive Owen joins Dakota Fanning and Marvel's Punisher, Jon Bernthal, in the teaser trailer for "The Escape," a new short film from BMW Films written and directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9).

In 2001, the car company launched a series of eight branded short films dubbed "The Hire," which featured Owen as "The Driver," a man serving as a Transporter of sorts with his BMW car. Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Tony Scott were among the filmmakers helming these stories. Fifteen years later, Blomkamp is now putting his mark on BMW Films with an anniversary short.

"The Escape," co-written by David Carter and also starring Vera Farmiga, will be released on Oct. 23 on BMWFilms.com.

"I just think it was a brilliant idea originally," Owen said in a behind-the-scenes featurette. "They're serious pieces of work. They're short films, but they're serious filmmakers doing what they do best."
