Samira Wiley may have recently checked out of Litchfield, but Orange Is the New Black will still play a central role in her life, as the actress is now engaged to series writer Lauren Morelli.

On Tuesday, Wiley and Morelli both took to Instagram to share the news with a picture that features the happy couple smiling from ear to ear and Wiley sporting a shiny engagement ring.

The couple fell in love on the set of the Netflix hit, where Wiley starred as beloved inmate Poussey Washington and Morelli has served as a staff writer.

Morelli was married to television writer Steve Basilone when she began working on OITNB, but in May 2014, Morelli wrote an essay for Mic about how working on the series made her realize that she is gay and in love with Wiley.

“I was nervous about the first love scene I’d written for Alex and Piper. I’d loved writing it, loved watching a tenderness emerge in their relationship where passion always seemed to be the ruling principle, but by that time, I was so deep in my own self-doubt that I constantly felt like a fraud, she said of writing the show’s central relationship. “I was sure it was bleeding into my writing. How could it not? I was married to a man, but I wasn’t straight.”

Morelli and Basilone officially divorced in September 2014 but remained friends. Earlier this year, she appeared on his Terribly Funny podcast.

Wiley’s character died when she was accidentally suffocated by a guard in season 4. The actress told EW the decision was “an homage, in a way,” to Eric Garner’s 2014 death. She can currently be seen in season 3 of FXX’s You’re the Worst and will be a series regular on the upcoming Hulu series, The Handmaid’s Tale.
