The recent revelation of graphic remarks made by Donald Trump in 2005 about Days of Our Lives actress Arianne Zucker and another woman sparked renewed criticism of how the Republican presidential nominee talks about women.

Zucker is not commenting on Trump’s remarks at this time, according to an NBC spokesperson, but she may feel differently about her onetime costar than she did a decade ago, when she discussed Trump’s Days cameo in a TV interview.

Speaking to Soap Talk hosts Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway in 2005, Zucker had nothing but good things to say about working with Trump, who played himself on a episode of the long-running daytime drama. “He is so cute and charming,” the actress said, adding that “you just don’t look above” his hairline.

As for Trump’s acting chops, Zucker said, “He was really good. The first take was a little rough because he was sort of figuring out where he was going, not used to the show. … It took us three takes the first time, but the second scene was pretty fast and we were in and out.”

In a clip from the show, Zucker’s character, the scheming vixen Nicole Walker, tries to cozy up to Trump but gets shut down.

At the time of Zucker’s Soap Talk interview, the three-time Daytime Emmy nominee was presumably unaware that Trump had privately made crude remarks about her when arriving on set, including that he wanted to “use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her.” He added, “You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”

Further in the interview, Zucker talks about the Trump episode of Days being parodied by Saturday Night Live, with Darrell Hammond playing Trump and Amy Poehler playing Zucker.

“I was so excited,” Zucker says. “I could totally retire now, I’ve been spoofed on SNL.”
