Following the controversy surrounding the leaked footage of Donald Trump making lewd comments about Access Hollywood‘s Nancy O’Dell in 2005, some Trump supporters have defended the Republican presidential nominee by equating his remarks to moments in pop culture. One surrogate even called Hillary Clinton a hypocrite for liking Beyoncé’s ‘Formation’ but calling Trump’s comments “horrific.”

Shortly after the tape was leaked, former congressman Joe Walsh, came to Trump’s defense on Twitter, comparing his comments to the erotic nature of E.L. James’ best-selling novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.

It didn’t take long for James to fire back at Walsh herself, tweeting, “The word ‘pussy’ does not appear in Fifty Shades of Grey. And it’s fiction. You know. FICTION. #LearnTheDifference and #GrowUp @WalshFreedom.”

The comparison was made again during a conversation on Anderson Cooper 360 on Monday, when Scottie Nell Hughes also referenced the novel to defend Trump, citing, “we have made that part of a culture — a Fifty Shades of Grey culture — in today’s society that men can talk like that.”
