If you’re looking for a one-liner to describe the high-concept Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, try this: Mr. and Mrs. Smith in space. Director Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Lucy) dropped the reference during a recent interview to help announce the release date of the first trailer.

While select footage and images were revealed at San Diego and New York Comic Con, the Valerian teaser trailer will drop this Thursday, Nov. 10.

Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) play Valerian and Laureline, two time-traveling space cops, in the film based on the French science fiction comics of the same name. “It’s really Mr. and Mrs. Smith in space,” Besson told Collider. “You know, they’re joking, fighting. So that’s what drives me since I’m young is that I love this team. Because they’re cops, super cops, they travel in the space and time, but they’re fighting all the time, they’re so human.”

Valerian sees these partners travel to the breathtaking city of Alpha, where mysterious forces are trying to undo everything the diverse metropolis stands for. Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Herbie Hancock, and Kris Wu also feature in the film, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters July 21, 2017.
