Batman v Superman: Michael Shannon fell asleep watching film

Michael Shannon doesn’t really care what anyone thinks. He proved it with his amazing outfit to EW’s party at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, and declared that he didn’t really care how Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ended even though he recorded a cameo for the film and starred in its 2013 predecessor, Man of Steel. Shannon doubled down on that devil-may-care attitude in a new interview with Fandango, with a hilarious answer about whether he had actually watched Batman v Superman.

“People ask me about this all the time. Okay, I’ll tell you the god’s honest truth,” Shannon said. “Zack [Snyder] is gonna kill me for this – he’s gonna kill me. I watched it once and I fell asleep … I know, I know. I was on an international flight and I was tired.”

Although Shannon admitted he wasn’t interested in doing more superhero films, he did give credit to Man of Steel.

“When I did Man of Steel I thought the story was interesting,” Shannon said. “I thought it was relevant. It was about a civilization that destroys the planet they live on and goes looking for another one. Ring any bells? That’s why I did it. I didn’t do it because I felt I needed a big comic book franchise – I honestly thought it was a beautiful story.”
