Sherlock: New season 4 photos to be thankful for

Sherlock released six new images from the upcoming fourth season, including the above extended family portrait with Baby Watson and a first look at the show’s new villain — the rather Biff Tannen-looking Culverton Smith (Toby Jones). Executive producer Steven Moffatt has previously teased, “He’s the darkest villain we’ve had. There was always something charming and engaging about Moriarty. There was something fascinating and actually amoral, rather than immoral, about Charles Augustus Magnussen. This guy is the purest evil.”

Season 4 will be released Jan. 1 on PBS Masterpiece starting with “The Six Thatchers.” Star Benedict Cumberbatch has recently suggested fans might be waiting quite a while — possibly forever — for season 5, given his increasingly busy film career and the schedule of costar Martin Freeman.
