Is Black Mirror not enough to scare you away from social media? Well, the trailer for The Circle just might do the trick.

USA Today premiered the first trailer for the sci-fi thriller, which introduces Emma Watson as a recent college grad named Mae Holland who lands her dream job at a tech company called The Circle. The mysterious Silicon Valley organization was founded by a charming Elon Musk/Mark Zuckerberg/Steve Jobs type named Eamon Bailey (played by the ultimate charismatic actor, Tom Hanks), and The Circle’s big tech innovation is SeeChange, a tiny glass camera that allows users to share their thoughts and lives with the world.

“Bailey’s notion is that knowing is good, and knowing everything is better,” director James Ponsoldt told USA Today. “He believes all experiences should be available to everyone, not only the privileged or people who can afford them. He’s deeply interested in technology that can make people share all human experiences with everyone. He’s a boundary pusher, even boundary destroyer.”

Before long, Mae trades her customer service job for documenting her life full-time through SeeChange, turning herself into a worldwide celebrity. But after meeting with a Circle programmer played by John Boyega, Mae starts to wonder whether there’s something sinister at the heart of The Circle.

Based on Dave Eggers’ 2013 novel of the same name, The Circle also stars Patton Oswalt and will hit theaters on April 28. Watch the trailer below.
