Just in time for the holidays, Christopher Nolan has delivered a new trailer to the delight of movie nerds and One Direction fans alike.

The new trailer for the Dark Knight director’s Dunkirk has debuted, giving us a fresh look at this upcoming World War II drama scheduled for release on July 21. The film follows a band of young soldiers (One Direction member Harry Styles and newcomer Fionn Whitehead among them) during the evacuation of Dunkirk, one of the most pivotal moments for the Allies.

As German soldiers advanced across Europe, British, Belgian, and French forces were pushed to the coast at Dunkirk. Thanks to a miraculous effort by the Allies — and a strategic screw-up on Hitler’s part — more than 300,000 soldiers escaped.

Dunkirk marks Nolan’s return after 2014’s Interstellar, and the war film may be his biggest project yet in terms of scale and the amount of extras involved. Eternally the celluloid devotee, the director is also shot the film on extra large 65 mm stock.
