Rami Malek tries a Freddie Mercury mustache

News broke recently that Mr. Robot star Rami Malek will portray Queen singer Freddie Mercury in the long-gestating biopic Freddie Mercury. Malek is clearly excited for the role, telling Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night that Mercury is “one of the most iconic musicians in human history,” but things are still in the early stages. Malek hasn’t even met the surviving members of Queen yet. Kimmel decided to help him out with another aspect of preparation, though: donning Mercury’s trademark mustache.

“I think it would be pretty exciting, for Queen fans especially, to see what it might look like,” Kimmel said.

Malek subsequently tried on the mustache to much cheers from the audience, only to rip it off right away. Kimmel noted that the mustache made him look like he should be fighting someone with fists raised in an exaggerated manner.
