Fiona Gallagher’s finances have changed for the better in season 7 of Shameless — and it now appears to be following suit for her portrayer, Emmy Rossum.

After a salary standoff between Rossum and Warner Bros. delayed a season 8 renewal for the Showtime drama, the Golden Globe-nominated actress and the studio have come to terms on a new contract, EW has confirmed.

On Wednesday, Rossum tweeted her excitement about continuing to work on the series and soon getting back to work. “Playing Fiona Gallagher has been one of the great privileges of my life,” she wrote. “I’m so happy to continue w my SHAMELESS family! Back to work in May!”

While Shameless is an ensemble drama featuring a large cast, Rossum is the de facto lead, as Fiona has served as the matriarch of the family from the beginning. Despite her crucial role throughout the run of the series, her more established costar William H. Macy — who has been nominated for three consecutive Emmys — has been paid a higher salary.

Macy supported his TV daughter in a recent interview with TMZ. “She works as hard as I do,” he said. “She deserves everything.”

Shameless, which Showtime has still not officially renewed, airs its season finale on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
