Current Bachelor Joey Graziadei addressed the comments surrounding his yellow eyes, sharing that the hue is rooted in a mild liver condition called Gilbert syndrome. In an Instagram video shared Thursday, the TV personality, 28, explained that he was diagnosed during high school — and though his eyes have the yellow tinge, he is very much healthy.

"I wanted to jump on here really quick and talk about something that I'm seeing a lot of comments about, which is Joey's yellow eyes," Graziadei began the video. "To give some context on that, I have to go all the way back to when I was in high school. I was sick for about a week and a half, and my mom thought it would be a good idea to go to the doctor."

His blood work revealed a high bilirubin count, which signaled potential issues with his liver, Graziadei said. After several liver ultrasounds and consultations with more medical professionals, "They found out that there was nothing necessarily wrong, like hepatitis," Graziadei said, but diagnosed him with Gilbert (pronounced zheel-BAYR) syndrome.

"At the end of the day, I am told that I am healthy," Graziadei said. "It's something that does affect the whites of my eyes and makes it have those jaundice levels, which is why it looks yellow." He noted the condition worsens under "stress or lack of sleep, which happens on a TV show," but it's "something I want to pay more attention to going into this year," he said. "I want to ensure my health is optimal."

"But I wanted to provide some background and reassure you that to my knowledge, I am healthy," he said, adding that he intends to stay hydrated, get enough sleep, and manage his stress levels. "I do appreciate everyone looking out for me and wondering if I'm okay, but to my knowledge, I'm as okay as can be."
