Dear Evan Hansen behind-the-scenes book coming in November

The Tony-winning team of Steven Levenson, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul will author the coffee table book.

Dear Evan Hansen is getting a book. Following the success of other Broadway books like Wicked's The Grimmerie and Hamilton: The Revolution, Dear Evan Hansen: Through the Window will detail the conception and production of the smash musical. The show's creative team (bookwriter Steven Levenson as well as music team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who won the Tonys for Best Book of a musical and best score, respectively) will author the book to be published Nov. 21.

Readers can expect from the book cast and crew interviews, unreleased lyrics, and the show's libretto, as well as insight from the creators' teenage years that helped shape the musical. Also, to coincide with the show's themes of teen suicide and social media, the book will also include features on mental health and online personas.

Grand Central Publishing acquired the rights to the from producer Stacey Mindich, it was announced Tuesday. It will be produced by Melcher Media, who are known for their encyclopedia-like musical reference books.

In a joint statement, Levenson, Pasek and Paul said, "For the past year, we have had the enormous privilege of sharing this show on Broadway and now we are delighted and honored to be given the opportunity to bring the story to an even wider audience." Ben Sevier, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Grand Central Publishing, praised the show saying, "Dear Evan Hansen is more than a brilliant, award-winning musical—it is a cultural phenomenon with deep social resonance that has justly inspired legions of devoted fans."
