Anthony Bourdain has been around the world and back again, but next year he’s launching a new adventure. As part of Berger Books, the just-announced new Dark Horse comic imprint by legendary Vertigo editor Karen Berger, Bourdain will be writing a comic book called Hungry Ghosts, due out next year.

According to Vulture, Hungry Ghosts will be a four-issue anthology series full of various isolated short stories. Its format is a riff on a game from Edo-period Japan known as 100 Candles, during which samurai would tell each other progressively scarier and creepier folk tales in an attempt to freak each other out. Bourdain’s version, naturally, will involve chefs rather than samurai, and the stories will revolve around food. (Bourdain certainly knows his share of food-related horror stories.)

Hungry Ghosts will reunite Bourdain with co-writer Joel Rose, with whom he worked on a previous comic, Get Jiro! A roster of artists will illustrate the stories of Hungry Ghosts, including Paul Pope, Vanesa Del Rey, Leo Manco, Alberto Ponticelli, and Mateus Santolouco

Look for Hungry Ghosts to hit stores Jan. 31, 2018 from Berger Books.
