Next month, The Martian author Andy Weir will release his highly anticipated second novel, Artemis — a heist tale that takes place in a small colony on the moon.

But this time, our fearless leader isn’t Martian’s smart-talking survivor Mark Watney. Get ready to meet Jazz Bashara — a smuggler who grew up on the moon and gets embroiled in a high stakes heist that twists into a murder mystery.

To voice Jazz (and perform the entire Artemis audiobook), Weir and Audible snagged none other than The Defenders‘ Rosario Dawson — and EW can exclusively unveil the first clip of Dawson’s narration, below. Dawson and Weir will appear on Audible’s Artemis panel at New York Comic Con Oct. 5 from 2:45-3:45PM in Room 1A06.

“I worked hard to make a deeper character than Mark Watney,” Weir told EW over the summer. “Jazz is more nuanced. She’s flawed. She makes bad decisions. She’s incredibly intelligent, but she’s always looking for the shortcut.”

Artemis will be available on Audible Nov. 14, but is available for pre-order now.
