A whole new Joan

Joan Didion
Joan Didion. Everett Collection

Joan Didion has been publishing books since 1963's Run River, and her collected works currently number nearly 20 (to say nothing of her magazine and newspaper pieces). The venerable author, 86, has pulled back as of late — understandably so — but her publisher still has a few surprises in the works for her legions of fans and admirers. This spring, starting with the paperback edition of Let Me Tell You What I Mean on Jan. 25, Vintage Books will be re-releasing Didion's entire backlist with fresh covers, each featuring an iconic image of the author and designed by Linda Huang. EW has an exclusive first look ahead, starting with her nonfiction titles.
