Julia Fox says Kanye West 'weaponized' her against ex Kim Kardashian: 'I just felt like his little puppet'

The Uncut Gems star originally thought their relationship "could be something real."

Julia Fox is looking back at her whirlwind relationship with Kanye West — and not fondly. The Uncut Gems star said she felt "weaponized" by the rapper against his ex-wife Kim Kardashian during their whirlwind romance.

"I really understood him on a visceral level," Fox said in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, adding that she thought the relationship "could be something real" in the beginning. "I thought ultimately I'd be helping a precarious situation, but I learned very quickly that I was being weaponized. I just felt like his little puppet."

Representatives for West did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

Fox and West dated between January and February of this year. Kardashian filed for divorce from the musician in February 2021, and the separation was finalized in November 2022. They share four children.

Fox is set to release her new memoir, Down the Drain, on Oct. 10. She told the Times that she "went lightly" in discussing her relationship with West in the book, though she never signed a nondisclosure agreement. "I'm not signing a f---ing NDA, just on principle. I never have, and I never will," Fox said, adding, "Unless it's a professional opportunity, then sure."

Of the media attention the relationship brought, "It really wasn't that big of a deal, but other people made it such a big deal," Fox said, adding that she suspects it affected her professional life. "I know for a fact I've been up for certain things and couldn't do it because of dating Kanye. It's kind of wild."

Down the Drain will offer a look back at the actor's life, beginning with her childhood with "volatile" parents and leading up to her "turbulent path to cultural supremacy," per the book's description. She first announced the memoir at an Oscars party last year, telling Variety in a clip that went viral that it's "a masterpiece, if I do say so myself."
