Chrissy Teigen recounts terrifying flight experience: ‘I was bracing for impact’

Chrissy Teigen is feeling grateful to be alive after recently suffering a serious scare aboard an airplane.

In a series of Instagram Stories posted on Monday, the model and TV personality revealed that she was “bracing for impact” after the plane she was on board underwent an “erroneous take off” that required pilots to brake and land suddenly. 

“We were going a thousand miles an hour to take off and then came to a complete stop and, for like three seconds, I was bracing for impact,” Teigen explained in one clip, which showed her still sitting in her plane seat. “Absolutely positive that we were braking because we were gonna hit something.”

Thankfully, the plane was fine, but the incident certainly spooked Teigen. “I became very religious all of a sudden. I was like, ‘Praise Lord, praise be,’” she said. “We’re going back to the gate. I’m so grateful for these pilots and the plane for doing what it was supposed to do.”

In a caption written on the post, she added a note to her husband John Legend, writing, “please answer your phone I’m on final destination.” Her comment is a reference to the 2000 horror film of the same name, which follows a collection of plane passengers who are killed in bizarre and gruesome ways after they cheat death.

In a subsequent post, Teigen lamented about how it was her “worst nightmare” to document a flight only for it to be her last. “Then all my last photos on Daily Mail would be like, ‘She had beer cheese,’” she commiserated. “‘That was her last meal: beer cheese.’”

Although, in actuality, Teigen noted that her last video being about beer cheese would be kind of excellent. 

“My last words were nearly Meemaw’s beer cheese,” she said through her laughter, possibly a reference to Vanderpump Rules star Brittany Cartwright's grandmother's beer cheese. “I’m so happy. This whole plane is so happy. We’re laughing hysterically and don’t blow this up any more than you will. We’re good. We’re okay.”
