After two seasons of will-they-won’t-they, Walter and Paige may finally be on the road to getting together when Scorpion returns in the fall.
In the finale, Walter (Elyes Gabel) set out to finally profess his love for Paige (Katharine McPhee), who was heading to Tahoe with new flame Tim (Scott Porter). “[The] first episode back is pretty much a direct pickup, a couple hours after where we left off,” executive producer Nicholas Wootton said at the show’s Comic-Con panel on Thursday. “We’re going to see what happens when Walter goes to Tahoe.”
Now the question remains how Paige will react to Walter finally making a move. “Her feelings are always there, but she’s had to put them aside because she’s accepted that Walter isn’t capable of loving her in the way she deserves and the way she wants him to,” McPhee said. “Her feelings have become dormant. They’re always there, but she has a child and needs to move on with her life. Season 3, Walter definitely comes to Tahoe. It’s definitely going to be an interesting interaction when Walter shows up. It’s definitely a shock.”
The finale also saw Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) propose to Happy (Jadyn Wong), who revealed she was already married before fleeing Scorpion headquarters. “My first reaction was, ‘Yes!'” Wong said of learning Happy’s secret, to which Thomas replied, “My reaction was, ‘Come on!'”
“Who’s she married to?” Wootton said coyly, noting that everyone he’s told the identity of Happy’s mystery partner has been surprised. “I’m not going to tell you, but it’s really not what you’re expecting. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Stay tuned.”

Later, when asked what the cast would like to discover about their characters this season, Wong joked, “I want to know who Happy is married to. That might be a good thing to know.”
“For Paige, I get to do a lot of really cool things,” McPhee said, noting that the script for the first episode after the two-hour premiere is “very exciting and very different than what the regular episodes are.” “There’s a lot of fantasy that goes on, it’s really cool,” she added.
In other news, Wootton teased some of the exotic locations Team Scorpion will venture to next season: Bulgaria, Ireland, and potentially Australia. Also on tap in the season 3, Robert Patrick’s Cabe may get a love interest.
Scorpion returns Monday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
