DC Comics is diving into the world of comedy with Powerless, a new workplace sitcom starring Vanessa Hudgens.

Hudgens (Grease Live), along with fellow castmates Danny Pudi (Community) and Ron Funches (Kroll Show), stopped by EW’s studio at San Diego Comic-Con to dish about DC’s first foray into television comedy.

“I feel like a lot of the superhero shows are always about the superheroes,” said Hudgens. “But what about the other people who are trying to live their lives while these superheroes are having these epic battles? What happens afterwards?”

Powerless, created by Ben Queen (A to Z), centers on an insurance company responsible for cleaning up the messes left behind by superheroes’ crime-fighting antics. Hudgens plays insurance worker Emily, who’s fed up with irresponsible behavior of superheroes and decides to take a stand. Pudi and Funches also star as her co-workers, along with Alan Tudyk (Zootopia) and Christina Kirk (Melinda and Melinda).

“You don’t necessarily need superpowers to be a powerful person,” said Hudgens, who’s character finds herself in the spotlight in the pilot. “So she’s stumbling her way through that all.”

While the series is set in the DC universe, don’t expect appearances from the franchise’s heavy-hitters like Batman or Superman — yet. But that hasn’t stopped the Powerless cast from throwing some playful aspersions at the heroes.

“I do feel like Superman [is least considerate],” Funches said. “He’s just always wrecking stuff. Like, let other people get some shine. We get it, you can save anything and everything, why don’t you let somebody else get a little bit of something, Clark? Jeeze.”

Watch EW’s full interview with the cast above, where Pudi discusses his sidekick role to Hudgens’ heroic character and how Funches represents a unique point of view on the series. Powerless arrives on NBC in 2017.
