Originals at Comic-Con: Cast talks time jump

Season 4 of The Originals is bringing big changes for the Mikaelson family, as the show is jumping five years into the future after last season’s epic finale. Even though the cast was careful not to tease too much in the EW lounge at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, they did give fans some ideas about what to expect.

The time may have been good for Hayley Marshall. “I think it’s kind of been Hayley and her daughter for the last five years,” said Phoebe Tonkin. “Grandma Mary’s coming back, and she’s kind of a babysitter here and there, looking after her while Hayley has to go do adult things like looking for weird plants and herbs and things. But yeah, it’s kind of just been Hope and Hayley. And obviously Hope and Hayley have grown a bond, and now she has a daughter who is a little girl and not a baby.”

As for Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan), the sacrifice he made for his siblings didn’t exactly go as planned — and that might have a lasting impact. When asked if the result will turn him off from stepping up in the future, Morgan joked, “Potentially, yeah, or maybe he’s spent the last five years congratulating himself.”
