Comic-Con: Charlize Theron kicking off EW's 'Women Who Kick Ass' panel

The 'Atomic Blonde' star will sit down with EW for a no-holds-barred discussion in Hall H.

Entertainment Weekly is once again presenting the “Women Who Kick Ass” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and this year there’s one woman who embodies that title particularly well: Charlize Theron.

The Oscar winner is kicking asses galore in this summer’s Atomic Blonde as both its star and producer, and she’s helping EW kick off its first Icon Edition of the fan-favorite panel. With roles like Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, Meredith Vickers in Prometheus, Queen Ravena in The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and the titular character of Æon Flux, she consistently embodies the whole package: strength, wisdom, willpower, beauty, and badassery.

Hosted by EW Senior Writer Sara Vilkomerson, the “Women Who Kick Ass” panel will take place in Hall H on Saturday, July 22 from 2:00-2:45 p.m. PT.

“Comic-Con has always been a celebration of and for the fans, and their favorite stars and franchises. This year, we’re so excited to host our annual panel, ‘Women Who Kick Ass,’ with the ultimate kick-ass icon, Charlize Theron,” Henry Goldblatt, Editor in Chief of EW, said in a statement. “In 2017, EW’s Comic-Con coverage will be bigger and better than ever, as we double-down on content across all our platforms, including EW Radio on SiriusXM and the new addition of ‘EW: The Show,’ from our streaming network, PEN, in the EW Studio and from the convention hall floor.”

As an added bonus for Con attendees, Theron will appear on the cover of a special “Inside Comic-Con” issue of EW that will be distributed by F.Y.E (For Your Entertainment) on the streets in San Diego over the weekend. It will also be available to purchase on all tablet devices beginning Thursday, July 20.

EW Editor at Large Lynette Rice will also be moderating the “Brave New Warriors” panel. Westworld’s Rodrigo Santoro, American Gods’ Ricky Whittle, Outlander’s Richard Rankin, Stranger Things’ David Harbour, Happy!’s Christopher Meloni, and Once Upon A Time’s Colin O’ Donoghue will sit down in Ballroom 20 on Friday, July 21 from 1:45-2:30 p.m. PT to discuss their popular characters, occasionally awkward fan encounters, and the highs and lows of their Hollywood careers.
