Michelle Pfeiffer is headed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Batman Returns star has been cast as Janet van Dyne in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Janet, the mother of Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne, is a scientist who vanished decades before when she shrank down to subatomic size. At the end of the 2015 film, Ant-Man, Hope received her mother’s suit, which allows its wearer to adjust her size and fight threats from a microscopic perspective.

Marvel Studios announced some other casting during its panel at San Diego Comic-Con:

–Hannah John-Kamen (the upcoming films Ready Player One and Tomb Raider) is playing a character called the Ghost, who debuted in the Marvel Comics as an Iron Man foe — but was sometimes depicted as more of an anti-hero than a villain (and is male in the Marvel books).

–Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight) has signed on to play Sonny Burch, a character who in the Marvel comics is the chairman of Cross Technologies, which was the home of original Ant-Man villain Darren Cross (played in that film by Corey Stoll). Burch is also the past associate of Iron Man villain Obadiah Stane (played in that film by Jeff Bridges).

–Randall Park (The Interview) will play agent Jimmy Woo, who first debuted in the Yellow Claw comic series and later joined the Marvel universe and S.H.I.E.L.D., working for Nick Fury (played in the Marvel films by Samuel L. Jackson).

–Laurence Fishburne (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), meanwhile, will costar as Dr. Bill Foster, who in the comics is known as Black Goliath. The character is a biochemist who works with Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas in the Ant-Man film) and has the ability to grow in size.

Ant-Man and The Wasp, directed by Peyton Reed, will open on July 6, 2018 — two months after Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters.
