Dakota Johnson trolls her viral home tour in SNL promo: 'I love limes'

In a promo for her "SNL" hosting duties, Johnson parodies her "Architectural Digest" home tour.

The internet loves limes.

At least, it did after Dakota Johnson gave a tour of her Hollywood home to Architectural Digest in 2020. Now, Johnson is breathing new life into the long-running joke. A promotional sketch for the Jan. 27 episode of Saturday Night Live, which Johnson will host, puts those limes front and center.

Johnson gives a tour of SNL's studio 8H in the style of her AD tour. Of course, there's a bowl of limes sitting outside Punkie Johnson's dressing room, prompting Dakota Johnson to recreate her viral catchphrase, "I love limes."

The original AD video had Johnson showing off her home, the coffee table that came with the house, and a table made of wood from Winston Churchill's yacht. But the moment that set social media ablaze at the time was Johnson showing off her kitchen and grabbing a lime from one of two decorative bowls of limes. "I love limes. I love them," she said, seemingly unprovoked. "I like to present them like this in my house."

It was a moment that was repeatedly turned into a meme. Then, came a shocking revelation on a Jan. 2021 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Johnson admitted she doesn't actually like limes.

In the interview, which was conducted remotely, host Jimmy Fallon brought up her limes and asked what she does with all those limes. Johnson admitted that the limes were just "set dressing" that she did not place there. Then the story took a weird twist. "I'm allergic to limes," she said.

"It was hard to just ignore them," Johnson said of the limes in her kitchen. "So, I just lied. Just lied." Later that year, again appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she clarified that she found out she was allergic after the AD video, adding, "I don't really care about limes."

Whether or not she cares about them, she can't escape those limes. Johnson will host Saturday Night Live with musical guest Justin Timberlake on Jan. 27.
