David Henrie and Selena Gomez tease 'Wizards of Waverly Place' revival: 'Let's make some' magic

Henrie shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the cast and crew of the "Wizards" sequel series.

There’s magic in the air.

David Henrie reposted a photo of himself with Selena Gomez and other cast members from the recently-announced Wizards of Waverly Place revival, including Alkaio Thiele, Janice Brown, and Mimi Gianopulos on Monday. “Let’s make some [magic wand emoji],” Henrie wrote in his caption. Writer/producer Scott Thomas and director Andy Fickman can also be seen in the photo.

Thomas originally posted the picture on his Instagram on Saturday, just two days after the Wizards sequel pilot was officially announced. “the adventure begins,” he wrote in his caption.

Henrie’s Justin Russo is set to be a series regular on the new Disney Channel show, while Gomez will reprise her role as Alex as a guest star in the pilot and is also set to executive produce the series.

Brown will lead the series as a young wizard named Billie, while Gianopulos will play Justin’s wife Giada, and Thiele will play their son Roman.

The official description of the series says that the show will take place after a “mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life with his wife and two sons. But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training shows up at his door… and Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World."

The original Wizards of Waverly Place ended in 2012, and is just one of many Disney Channel series getting a contemporary revival — Raven’s Home and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder are both currently underway.
