Drake put his money on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl: 'Can't bet against the Swifties'

But will the Drake Curse strike again?

Drake is putting his money on the Kansas City Chiefs at this year’s Super Bowl... for better or worse.

“I can’t bet against the Swifties,” Drake wrote on Instagram, sharing a screenshot from the Stake app, which he is partnered with. His bet is worth whopping $1.15 million: if he wins, with the Chiefs triumphing over the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII, the stake will pay $2.346 million.

But while Drake probably expected Taylor Swift's fanbase to be thrilled by the news, his announcement is creating more anxiety than enthusiasm.

While it usually doesn’t hurt to have more people in Swift's corner — especially when it comes to cheering on her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — Drake is a very special case. The rapper, whose made many major sports bets in his time, is notoriously bad at calling his shots.

Back in 2016, the Cleveland Cavaliers' triumph over the Golden State Warriors cost Drake $60,000 and a few years later, he lost  $1 million betting on France at the 2022 World Cup. It’s gotten to the point where people jokingly dub his wagers as part of the "Drake Curse," meaning the team he supports is predestined to lose.

Still, years of bad luck have not deterred Drake from gambling publicly — and this year, he’s all in on the Chiefs. On social media, fans are already sounding off with their concern.

“Streets said Drake bet on the chiefs,” one social media user wrote, beside a skull emoji. “LMAOOO we all know what that means.”

Another joked that at the very least, fans will be enjoying a lot more of Drake’s music if he loses the bet.

Between Drake’s support and Swift’s presumed presence at the big game, superstition will be a hot topic when it comes to the potential success of the Chiefs. Swift has been something of a good luck charm for the team, who have won nine of the 12 games that she attended. But is Tayvoodoo enough to defeat the Drake Curse?

In just a few hours, the world will find out.
