Netflix shared a first look at Eddie Murphy's policeman in the upcoming Beverly Hills Cop 4. Axel is in his signature Detroit Lions jacket and has both hands up in the air as spectators film on their smart phones nearby.

According to Empire, the fourth iteration from director Mark Molloy will introduce Taylour Paige as Axel's criminal defense attorney daughter who pulls her father into a case based in California, where he'll cause issues with the Los Angeles Police Department's special-unit officer played by Kevin Bacon and team up with a new partner played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Returning franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer told the outlet Murphy and Gordon-Levitt are a strong comedic duo. “He gets stuck with Axel and they are hysterical together,” Bruckheimer teased. “Joseph is such a great straight man for Eddie.” He also promised a prime performance from Murphy. “Anytime he walks on set, you never know what you’re going to get. And it’s always pretty brilliant."

Franchise stars Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot will also be back to reprise their roles. The first 1984 blockbuster hit followed Murphy's fish-out-of-water Detroit cop pursuing a murder investigation in Beverly Hills. It grossed over $234 million worldwide at the box office and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 1985 Oscars.

The long-gestating fourth installment, which comes 30 years after the third one, debuts on Netflix sometime in 2024.
