Elle King concert postponed amid backlash to her 'hammered' Dolly Parton tribute

The "Ex's & Oh's" singer's planned performance at Billy Bob's Texas this week has been pushed back eight months.

Elle King won't be performing in Fort Worth, Texas, this Friday.

The "Ex's & Oh's" singer was set to play a concert at Billy Bob's Texas, but the venue announced via social media Wednesday that the show has been postponed eight months, to Sept. 21. "Original event tickets will be accepted for the new date," the announcement said. "Refunds are available at the point of purchase. Thank you for your understanding!" Further details were not provided.

Representatives for King didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment, and a rep for the venue didn't have further comment.

King still has dozens of other tour dates scheduled between February and October, according to her website.

News of the rescheduling comes in the wake of King’s controversial performance at a Dolly Parton tribute at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Jan. 19. During her set, King told the audience that she was "hammered" and appeared to be slurring her words on stage.

The musician seemed to forget the words to Parton's 2001 hit "Marry Me," saying, "I don't give a s---. I don't know the lyrics to these things in this f---ing town," and "Don't tell Dolly 'cause it's her birthday."

In a video captured by a concertgoer and posted online, King said, "I'm not even gonna f---ing lie, y'all bought tickets for this s---? You ain't getting your money back. I'll tell you one thing more. Hi, my name is Elle King and I'm f---ing hammered."

The Grand Ole Opry apologized for the incident on social media. "We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night's second Opry performance," the venue said in response to a post complaining, "For our first time at The Opry, it was a shame we all had to witness that."

King was subjected to similar criticism after her performance on New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash. Before performing her track "Drunk (And I Don't Want to Go Home)," King said, "It's okay, I live what I sing, y'all," and appeared to slur her words during that performance as well.
