Rachel Brosnahan is 'stalking' journalist pals to prep for role as Lois Lane

"I'm just trying to understand how that mindset works," the "Mrs. Maisel" and "Superman: Legacy" actress reveals on the Emmys red carpet.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Rachel Brosnahan, on the 2023 Emmys red carpet, explaining her prep for playing journalist Lois Lane in director James Gunn's upcoming film Superman: Legacy.

"I'm stalking my journalist friends right now," Brosnahan, a Lead Actress In a Comedy nominee for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, explained to EW Managing Editor Patrick Gomez. "I'm just trying to understand a little bit more deeply kind of how that mindset works."

Brosnahan told Gomez that she had grown up watching, and being inspired by, Margot Kidder's portrayal of Lane in the Christoper Reeve-led Superman films.

"There's not a lot of women in these universes anyway," she said. "It was nice to see somebody onscreen who felt as ambitious as I felt as a younger woman."

The actress also revealed that she had just bumped into Barry star Anthony Carrigan, who is playing the character Metamorpho in Superman: Legacy, which is set for release on July 11, 2025. Brosnahan explained that the pair hadn't "seen in each other since our casting announcements, so it was a really nice reunion, we've known each other for years... so that was a really nice moment."

Gunn confirmed last June that Brosnahan would play Lane in Superman: Legacy with The Politician actor David Corenswet cast as the new Man of Steel.
