This Is Us wins 2 Emmys

This Is Us… impressed with the NBC freshman drama’s showing at the 2017 Emmy Awards.

Of the five nominations still up for grabs at the beginning of the night, the series picked up one: Sterling K. Brown won for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The misses? Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Chrissy Metz), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Ron Cephas Jones), Outstanding Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Milo Ventimiglia (but only because Brown beat him).

The Emmy campaign for the breakout series didn’t get off to a hot start when it had a nomination rescinded last month. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences determined that This Is Us didn’t qualify for Outstanding Contemporary Costumes because more than half of the nominated episode, “Moonshadow,” took place in the 1970s.

Then, at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmys, the show went 1-for-5, with only Gerald McRaney emerging victorious for Outstanding Guest Actor. To be fair, TIU actors Brian Tyree Henry and Denis O’Hare were nominated in the same category, so there would have automatically been two losses. The series also lost in Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series and Outstanding Makeup for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic).

Below, see a list of every single This Is Us nomination, with Emmy Award wins in bold:

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series (Gerald McRaney)
