Euphoria season 3 to begin production in January with all principle cast returning

The Euphoria start date is in sight!

Season 3 of the HBO hit is set to begin production in January of 2025, nearly three years after its season 2 finale, with all principle cast returning.

“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January. We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast," says Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films. "We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans.”

The news comes after years of delays and much speculation surrounding which cast members will return. The dark teen drama, which follows struggling addict Rue (Zendaya), stars Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, and Alexa Demie, among others. It's no secret that many of those actors have had a lot of success outside the show, but according to HBO, the principle cast will all be back for season 3. However, two cast members we know for certain won't be returning are Barbie Ferreira, who said goodbye to her character, Kat, after season 2, and the late Angus Cloud, who died of an accidental overdose in July 2023.

As for what we can expect when the show returns, HBO boss Casey Bloys recently told Variety that the third season will pick up after a time jump that will take the characters out of high school, which will address the concerns Elordi expressed on The Tonight Show, saying, "I hope it's soon, or they're going to have to Benjamin Button me or something."

There's no word yet on what that means for Rue, whom we last saw struggling after a relapse, but hopefully, if years have passed, she's in a better place.

We also don't know when new episodes will actually air, but if production begins in January, let's cross our fingers we get to see season 3 before 2025 is over.
