You can't keep Fleabag away from her Hot Priest.
As announced during the His Dark Materials panel during the virtual Comic-Con festivities, Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be reuniting with Andrew Scott in season 2 as the voice of Scott's on-screen daemon.
Scott, who plays Will Parry's mysteriously M.I.A. father John Parry, revealed the news himself. It's a very brief, cameo voice part, but the actor had a few lovely words to say about his soul mate.
His Dark Materials begins in a world that is parallel to our own in which a person's soul exists outside of their bodies as talking animal companions called daemons. Human and daemon are, literally, soul mates. The same could probably be said about Waller-Bridge and Scott in real life.
"My daemon is going to be played by somebody who is very close to me in real life which is a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge," Scott said. "It's all about companionship and friendship and loyalty and that's what I feel about Phoebe in my real life. So, it's wonderful that that's happening."
Scott featured opposite Waller-Bridge in Fleabag season 2 as the Priest, later dubbed by fans as the "Hot Priest." He then appeared in season 1 in the role of John, though he has an expanded part in season 2 of His Dark Materials, which is based on Philip Pullman's fantasy book trilogy of the same name. Scott teased that most of his scenes are with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays balloonist Lee Scoresby.
Season 1 adapted the events of The Golden Compass, and now season 2 tackles material chronicled in The Subtle Knife. Dafne Keen stars in the series alongside Amir Wilson, Ruth Wilson, and Ariyon Bakare, who all appeared during the Comic-Con panel on Thursday. Jane Tranter serves as lead executive producer and Jack Thorne serves as writer and executive producer.
Season 2 will premiere this fall.
