Frasier reboot adds more original series stars for season 2: Bulldog and Gil return

Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe and Gil Chesterton are back for season 2 of the Frasier revival.

Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert are set to reprise their roles as the sports radio co-hosts as guest stars, Paramount+ announced on Tuesday. Butler portrayed the "Bullldog" who hosted KCAL's Gonzo Sports Show in the original series, while Hibbert's Gil, hosted Restaurant Beat.

"Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert have made an indelible contribution to television, and I am overjoyed to welcome them back to Frasier and for the opportunity to work together once again," star and producer Kelsey Grammer said in a statement.

Currently in production and filmed in front of a live studio audience at Los Angeles' Paramount Studios, Frasier follows Grammer's titular psychiatrist in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships, and fulfill an old dream or two.

Peri Gilpin is also set to reprise her role as Roz Doyle in the upcoming season, joined by previously-announced season 2 guest stars Patricia Heaton, Yvette Nicole Brown, Amy Sedaris, and Grammer's real-life daughter Greer Grammer, who will play Roz's daughter Alice Doyle.

The first season of the reboot also starred  Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s college-buddy-turned-university professor, Alan; Toks Olagundoye as Alan’s colleague and head of the psychology department, Olivia; Jess Salgueiro as Frasier's neighbor Eve; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew, David.

The original Emmy-winning series ran for 11 seasons, between 1993 and 2004, on NBC, serving as a spin-off for a character first introduced in season 3 of Cheers as one of the bar regulars. No word yet on the premiere date for season 2 of the reboot.
