There was no shortage of beef in the celebrity world this year. Whether it was a public spat a la Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj or a bitter legal battle as seen with Sean Penn and Lee Daniels, there was no lack of sides to choose. Ahead, a rundown of some of the year's biggest celebrity feuds.

Alex Pettyfer vs. Channing Tatum

Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum may have made a strong on-screen team for 2012's Magic Mike, but the former was nowhere to be seen when the sequel hit theaters in 2015. According to Pettyfer, the exclusion was hardly an accident. "Channing Tatum does not like me, and for many reasons — many being my own fault," Pettyfer told Bret Easton Ellis on his B.E.E. podcast, adding that he wasn't asked back for Magic Mike XXL. The actor went on to claim that Tatum was weary of Pettyfer being cast in the first place, seeing the then-bad boy as "a risk." Pettyfer said he was "scared to speak" on the set, presumably leading Tatum to see his costar as pompous. To make matters worse, Pettyfer later rented an apartment from one of Tatum's friends but moved out after four months because of an allergic reaction and never paid his final rent, due to distraction from the sudden death of his cousin. "I all of a sudden got a very negative email from Channing — rightfully so," he said. "I really took that the wrong way, which I shouldn’t have … By the end of it, I just basically said, ‘f— them. What is money when life is so much more?’ and ‘I’m not dealing with this, and I'm not paying.' I should have just paid, but he was looking for an excuse to not like me."

Quentin Tarantino vs. Police Unions

Quentin Tarantino found himself in conflict with various police unions across the country in October 2015. The Oscar-winning director voiced his support for those protesting against police brutality and joined a rally for the cause in New York City. Tarantino's actions did not sit well with police unions in NYC, as well as those in L.A., Chicago, and Philadelphia, among others. The groups have since called for a boycott of Tarantino's movies and sparked ongoing inflammatory language from both sides.

Sean Penn vs. Lee Daniels

The disagreement between Sean Penn and Lee Daniels is going all the way to court. The Milk actor filed a $10 million lawsuit against the Empire director in September 2015. The bad blood between the two began when Daniels invoked Penn's name while defending Empire star Terrance Howard in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Commenting on the controversy surrounding Howard's reported beating of his ex-wife, Daniels said, "[Terrence] ain't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he's some f—in' demon." Penn's defamation lawsuit alleges that "Daniels has falsely asserted and/or implied that Penn is guilty of ongoing, continuous violence against women."

Drake vs. Meek Mill

Bad blood between Drake and Meek Mill began to brew in July. Meek, who had just released his Dreams Worth More Than Money album, tweeted at the time, "Stop comparing drake to me too.... He don't write his own raps! That's why he ain't tweet my album because we found out!... He ain't even write that verse on my album and if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album..... I don't trick my fans! Lol" The shot led to friends and collaborators taking sides and inspired the release of a series of diss tracks from both Drake and Meek. Nicki Minaj — a good friend of Drake's and the girlfriend of Meek — found herself in the middle of the drama, and the feud culminated in the September release of What a Time to Be Alive, Drake's mixtape with rapper Future.

Taylor Swift vs. Katy Perry

The longstanding feud between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry continued well into 2015. After Swift hinted in 2014 that Perry was the inspiration for her now-infamous "Bad Blood" single, the "Dark Horse" singer hit back, slyly comparing Swift to Mean Girls villain Regina George. The latest chapter in the drama went down in July. After Swift handled VMA nominations rumors by tweeting at Nicki Minaj, "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..," Perry shot back, "Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman..."

Patrick Carney vs. Jack White

Patrick Carney and his Black Keys bro, Dan Auerbach, have long had an icy relationship with fellow alt-blues rocker Jack White. The situation flared when Carney alleged that White tried to fight him in a New York bar in September, tweeting that White was "basically bill corgan's dumb-ass zero t-shirt in human form." Carnney later tweeted that the pair smoothed things over.

Miley Cyrus vs. Nicki Minaj

In the run-up to hosting the VMAs, Cyrus commented that she thought Minaj's tweets about her lack of nominations were "not too kind" and "not very polite." After accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop Video during the ceremony, Minaj turned to Cyrus and memorably remarked, "This bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press... Miley, what's good?"

Lil Wayne vs. Birdman and Young Thug

In January, Weezy filed a suit against Birdman's Cash Money label for withholding payment. In April, Lil Wayne's tour bus came under gunfire; the shooter allegedly made calls that day to Birdman and artist Young Thug. The relationship is still strained, but Thug features Lil Wayne on the opening track of his September mixtape.

Naughty Boy and Zayn Malik vs. Louis Tomlinson

After Zayn Malik left One Direction in early 2015, his relationship between his former bandmates and his new collaborators became strained. Beginning in March, 1D's Louis Tomlinson started feuding on Twitter with Naughty Boy, the producer whom Malik worked with to kick off his solo career. Things heated up in May, as Tomlinson tweeted, "@NaughtyBoyMusic Jesus forgot you were such an in demand producer .... How does it feel to be riding on the back of someone else's career?" Malik then jumped in, responding to Tomlinson, "remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?"

Donald Trump vs. Rosie O'Donnell

The drawn-out, decade-long feud between Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell showed no signs of stopping in 2015. The two television personalities, who have had bad blood for years, continued to slam each other in the press and on social media in 2015. In the midst of the August GOP Presidential debate, Trump was asked by moderator Megyn Kelly about the many derogatory names he has called women, to which the politician responded, "Only Rosie O'Donnell." The comedienne tweeted moments later, "try explaining that 2 ur kids," before adding in November of Trump's campaign, "It’s a nightmare. That’s my quote."
