Season 2

''She was just a light. We had to teach her how to walk in heels. She almost fell down in the store the first time we put her in heels. She was like this little foal. I've stayed in touch with her over the years, and she has just blossomed into this incredible person. ... I love to think of the show as a Trojan Horse. You think of it as just a makeover show: You're going to watch somebody who looks sloppy or crazy or slutty, and then you're going to see them transform — caterpillar-to-a-butterfly-type of thing — but it is so much more than that.... The amazing thing about the show is the effect that it has on another level completely, this emotional relatability level where we all understand what it's like to feel insecure and overcompensate.... These are all emotions we have in common. That's what made it so special and so important.''

Season 2

''Belinda was the first makeover that really blew my mind. Before we got our hands on her 10 years ago, she looked like the kind of mom who was at the bottom of her own priority list. No time for herself. It's all about the kids. Blah blah blah. When she walked out in that tweed jacket and jeans with her sassy haircut, I yelled, 'You look like Madonna!' I don't know how much she looked like Madonna, but she was certainly giving off a confident kind of sex appeal.''

Season 3

''She would dress head-to-toe in one color, like lime green. She really thought she was getting it right, and she could not have been any cuter. Again, [she's] somebody Clinton and I have stayed in touch with. She's just the littlest woman with the biggest heart, and she was so wonderful that when we did her [episode], we met her two loopy sisters — and we went back and [made them over] a season later because they needed us, too! Maria was really special and also was somebody who really got it. She was somebody who was really making an effort to have a style and didn't understand the shortest distance between two points on how to get there. She is one of those people who just grabbed on to the rules and did not let go ever. Ever. Every time we've seen her since, her style is unbelievable.''

Clinton's Pick: Michelle B.

What Not to Wear | With just a few tweaks, the series turned a timid dog lover into a bona fide glamazon. ''Some people thought this episode was faked, that…

Season 4

''Some people thought this episode was faked, that Michelle was really a model disguised as a Plain Jane. But Michelle honestly had no idea how pretty she was. She was a shy, super-sweet girl who focused her time on animals, not her appearance. From the first second I met her, I knew she had great potential and I was certainly not disappointed by her final reveal. She probably could have walked out of the studio and booked a few modeling gigs.''

Season 6

''Sunny thought she had to wear fairy wings to get attention. After a week with us, she realized that she possessed the kind of natural beauty that some women only dream of. All we did was enhance that. When I first saw her at her reveal, I thought, 'She's breathtaking. She looks like a young Natalie Wood!'''

Stacy's Pick: Leanne

TLC

Season 7

''Leanne was a witch. We shot a cold open [for that episode] as if we were in Salem, and we were running from an angry mob. That was one of the best things to shoot. Leanne was a practicing witch. She wasn't Wiccan, but she believed in witchcraft. I found her style so stereotypical of what a witch might look like, but [we discovered that] underneath she was this beautiful, modern, contemporary woman waiting to come out. I was like, 'We're kind of magic!' She's the type of person that I would be afraid of in real life [laughs], but she wound up being lovely. I think that was a really big transformative moment.''

TLC

Season 8

''When we met Becca, she looked completely disheveled and, frankly, kind of asexual. She didn't seem like she was enjoying the process too much, so I didn't want to get my hopes up for a big finish. But when she came out from behind the doors for her final reveal, I was blown away by how amazing' her body looked. She was 100 percent woman, rocking her curves with confidence.''

Stacy's Pick: ''The Perfect Storm'' — Riana C., Taylor P., and Megan G.

TLC

Season 10

''These three girls that opened season 10 were best friends...[and] they were so representative of the three categories that we're always trying to do: The Schlump, The Slut, and The Crazy. They actually didn't take themselves that seriously, which partly had to do with their age. It was the first time that I [realized], 'Wow, I don't feel like I'm a contemporary of the person I'm making over. I feel like their parent.' That was kind of a big deal for me.''

TLC

Season 10

''That was a hard one. It was the first time we've worked with somebody who actually aspired to be a reality star. We'd never had somebody who...[wanted] to look like she was on Jersey Shore. In the 10 years that we've been on television, [I've seen] what an impact reality has had on the public and the way social media has taken over — everybody wants to be, or is, a mini-celebrity. So having weird nails and being so into labels... to me, it was so different than anything we've ever done.''

What Not To Wear kicks off its series finale event on TLC with a Fan Mail episode at 8 p.m. ET followed by a two-hour reunion special at 9 p.m. ET.
