Yanic Truesdale to reunite with Gilmore Girls creator for ballet drama Étoile

Where Amy Sherman-Palladino leads, Michele Gerard follows.

Cue the celebratory Celine Dion: Michel Gerard lives on.

Yanic Truesdale, beloved for his role as the aforementioned snooty concierge on Gilmore Girls, is set to reunite with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino for their upcoming Amazon Prime ballet drama, Étoile. The actor has been tapped for the recurring role of Raphael, the right-hand man of Charlotte Gainsbourg's Genevieve, the head of a Parisian ballet company.

On social media, the Canadian-American actor said he was excited to reunite with Sherman-Palladino, whom he called his "artistic mother who gave birth to my career in the US."

Set across Paris and New York, the eight-episode series will follow the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies as they swap their most talented stars in attempt to save their storied institutions. It will also star The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Luke Kirby and Gideon Glick, as well as Simon Callow, Lou de Laâge, and David Alvarez.

The Palladinos will write, direct, and executive produce the upcoming drama, which scored a two-season order. They've delighted Gilmore Girls fans with several reunions on Maisel and Bunheads during their respective runs, including appearances by Kelly Bishop, Milo Ventimiglia, and Liza Weil, among others.

Truesdale is best known for his role as the sardonic Michel Gerard, inn concierge and coworker to Lauren Graham's Lorelai Gilmore, on the Palladinos' Gilmore Girls, starring in all seven seasons of the original series and reprising his role on the 2016 Netflix revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Truesdale most recently appeared on Canadian comedy series Les Mecs, and also reunited with Gilmore costar Melissa McCarthy on workplace comedy God's Favorite Idiot.

A release date for Étoile has not yet been announced.

Deadline first reported the news of Truesdale's casting.
