Days of Our Lives alum Alison Sweeney has bookstore meltdown in exclusive teaser for Hallmark film Love & Jane

Hell hath no fury like a woman separated from her copy of Sense & Sensibility.

EW can exclusively reveal a first-look clip from Hallmark’s upcoming film Love & Jane, which sees Benjamin Ayres (Saving Hope, Suits) and Days of Our Lives alum Alison Sweeney reunite for the first time since their Hallmark film series Chronicle Mysteries. 

In the teaser, literary enthusiast Lilly (Sweeney) and a nice bookseller (Ayres) have a not-so-cute first meeting when she attempts to purchase the last copy of Austen’s 1811 novel Sense & Sensibility at his store only to be told that it was just nabbed online by someone else.

“Wait a second, you’re saying that someone who bought it on the internet trumps a real-life human who wants to buy it in the bookstore?” she asks him, to which he bluntly replies, "I'm afraid so."

The sales clerk then notifies her that can secure another copy that will arrive in two days, but Lilly has officially hit her limit and proclaims, “I need it now!” 

An additional attempt to placate her by suggesting that she read Northanger Abbey instead doesn’t go over too well either. “You cannot just trade out one Jane Austen novel for another,” Lilly exclaims as some nearby customers take note of her frustration. “They are all unique!”

On her way out of the store, Lilly stops to raise a finger at the clerk and boldly declares, "I hate the internet!"

But fate has more in store for this pair’s unconventional love story. When Lilly wishes that she could speak to Austen one evening, she suddenly finds the literary legend popping up to coach Lilly through life — and complex matters of the heart. 

Love & Jane premieres Saturday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the Hallmark Channel. Watch Sweeney and Ayres meet in the clip above.
