The Guardians of the Galaxy and Bladerunner 2049 star is sticking with sci-fi — albeit light sci-fi. Dave Bautista is teaming up with Jodie Foster for Hotel Artemis, the directorial debut of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation scribe Drew Pearce.

In the film, which Pearce also wrote, Foster plays a nurse in the near future who runs an underground hospital for sinister criminals in Los Angeles. She soon discovers one of her charges has a hidden agenda: to assassinate another patient.

"Mr. Bautista is a force to be reckoned with — a powerful presence who's equal parts strength and soulfulness," Pearce said in a statement. "I'm a true fan, and it's a privilege to have him in the world of Hotel Artemis."

Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, Simon Cornwell, and Stephen Cornwell will produce.

Both Pearce and Bautista have been involved with Marvel Studios, but haven't yet had the chance to work together. Pearce wrote Iron Man 3 and the adjoining One Shot short film "All Hail the King," and he's been announced as the screenwriter behind the Hulu original series The Runaways. Bautista introduced the MCU to Drax the Destroyer, a role he'll reprise in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 and Avengers: Infinity War.

The actor, who also featured in the James Bond film Spectre, was recently spotted in the thriller Bushwick at the Sundance Film Festival and can be seen opposite Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in Denis Villeneuve's Bladerunner sequel.
