Gerard Butler must save the planet in new Geostorm trailer

Are you ready for a very different kind of weatherman? In the new disaster movie Geostorm, Gerard Butler plays a satellite designer who must work with his estranged brother (Jim Sturgess) to save the world after climate-controlling satellites malfunction.

The film costars Abbie Cornish, Andy Garcia, and Ed Harris and is directed by Dean Devlin, who knows a thing or 1,297 about despicting havoc onscreen, having produced and cowritten both Independence Day movies and the 1998 version of Godzilla.

Geostorm will be released Oct. 20. Watch the first trailer for the film above.
