LEAP! trailer: Elle Fanning has dancing dreams in new animated movie

Elle Fanning takes a LEAP! of faith in the new trailer for her latest animated film. Ahead of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night, The Weinstein Co. debuted new footage from the tale of a young orphan heading to Paris to pursue her dancing dreams.

Fanning joins real-life dancer Maddie Ziegler and singer Carly Rae Jepsen in LEAP! as Félicie, who escapes with her best friend Victor (Nat Wolff) to the city to become a professional ballerina. In order to enter the Opera Ballet School in Paris, she must pretend to be the child of a wealthy family. But her lack of professional training isn’t her only other problem: Camille Le Haut (Ziegler) voices one of her deviously competitive classmates looking to take her down.

In addition to voicing Odette, Félicie’s mentor, Jepsen contributes original music to the film’s soundtrack, which also features Sia and Demi Lovato.

LEAP!, originally titled Ballerina and directed by Eric Summer and Éric Warin, opens in theaters on April 21. Watch the trailer above.
