Annabelle 2 trailer shows Creation of the cursed Conjuring doll

Find out how the creepy Annabelle doll was assembled.

Annabelle from the Conjuring films gets an origin story in the first trailer for Annabelle: Creation, a sequel to the 2014 horror spin-off.

Director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) goes back to the dollmaker who assembled the conduit of demonic activity. As the story goes, he and his wife take in a nun and a group of girls several years after the tragic death of their own child, but they’re soon tormented by their possessed creation.

John R. Leonetti’s Annabelle picked up with the doll in the 1970s when a married couple welcomed it into their home, where they were plagued by horrific supernatural occurrences. James Wan, who helmed The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, worked with Sandberg as a producer on Lights Out before returning as a producer on Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation.

The film stars Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Anne Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Lou Lou Safran, Samara Lee, Tayler Buck, Anthony LaPaglia, and Miranda Otto.

Annabelle: Creation opens in theaters on Aug. 11. Watch the new trailer above.
