George A. Romero's Land of the Dead getting 2-disc Blu-ray release

Pop quiz! Which currently-in-the-news film director plays a zombie in George A. Romero’s 2005 horror film, Land of the Dead?

While you’re mulling that question, we can tell you Scream Factory has announced that it will release Romero’s fourth undead tale in a two-disc collector’s edition Blu-ray set. The set will include new bonus features, plus the theatrical and unrated versions of the film, which stars Simon Baker, Asia Argento, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper, and Robert Joy. The official street date is Oct. 24, but horror fans who pre-order Land of the Dead from the Shout! Factory website will receive the set two weeks earlier and get a poster of the key art. A full list of bonus features will be released in September.

Oh, and the name of that director? Baby Driver filmmaker Edgar Wright, who so impressed Romero with his own zombie tale, 2004’s Shaun of the Dead, that Wright and cowriter/star Simon Pegg were invited by Romero to cameo in the movie.
