Josh Brolin praises Deadpool 2 costar Ryan Reynolds

Cable has nice words for his counterpart

Deadpool has been Marvel’s mouthiest mercenary since he first debuted in 1991, but for much of his history, he’s also had a very particular partner-in-crime. Where Deadpool is irreverent and goofy, Cable is taciturn and powerful. As Ryan Reynolds revealed at the end of the first Deadpool film, the sequel is finally uniting these two, as Cable arrives in the form of a very jacked Josh Brolin. But though Deadpool and Cable often butt heads, Brolin had nothing but nice words for his costar in a recent interview with EW.

“He’s an amazing guy, very smart and really sweet — and really handsome,” Brolin tells EW. “He’s a smart guy, he’s the one who saw this and tried to get this movie made for eight years and was unable to. I think has such a perfect sensibility. He’s a great producer on it, there’s a lot to trust there.”

Unfortunately, the set of Deadpool 2 was struck by tragedy recently, when a stuntwoman died from injuries sustained performing a motorcycle stunt for the film.

“We had that tragedy happen recently, which was awful,” Brolin said. “We’re all still reeling from that, but other than that it’s been great. I think both of us are good at creating a set of trust and fun.”

Deadpool 2 is due out June 1, 2018 — Cable and all. Around that same time, Brolin will also be appearing as the Marvel villain Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Before then, he’ll be starring as Cap. Eric Marsh of the Granite Mountain Hotshots in Only the Brave this October.
