Han Solo movie adds Avengers actor Paul Bettany

Paul Bettany is going from Infinity War to Star Wars.

EW has confirmed the Avengers alum is poised to join the star-studded cast of the young Han Solo film.

Director Ron Howard, who took over deep in production for previous directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, broke the news by sharing a picture of himself with Bettany, writing, “The Outer Rim just got a little bit wilder.” The actor retweeted Howard’s message and added, “It’s a dream come true.”

No word on Bettany’s role, but a report from SlashFilm claims he’s replacing Michael K. Williams, who revealed that he was cut from the film due to scheduling conflicts with Han Solo reshoots.

After previously voicing J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Iron Man series, Bettany added the role of Vision to his Marvel duties. He’s set to return as the superhero in next summer’s Avengers: Infinity War. The British actor can currently be seen portraying Ted Kaczynski in Discovery’s Manhunt: Unabomber miniseries.

The untitled Han Solo film, which stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke, will fly into theaters on May 25, 2018.
