Pull out those magical jeans — the traveling pants could be back in action sooner than we think.

Amber Tamblyn confirmed to EW that a yearned for third Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants film that checks in on Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget as adults has been “in development for a while.”

“I have very high hopes for it happening sooner rather than later,” Tamblyn says.

She and her costars — Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, and Blake Lively — have remained fast friends in real life since they met on the 2005 film. They often reunite as a group, turning out to support each other’s projects, and fans go crazy for their reunions.

Recently, Bledel won an Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Guest Actress for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale, while Ferrera and Tamblyn penned op-eds for the New York Times. This spate of success prompted a viral tweet, which jokingly urged the girls to “SEND THE PANTS TO BLAKE NOW!!”

Tamblyn says Ferrera showed her the tweet when they were spending time together earlier this week. “She was like, ‘Did you see this? It was so sweet. It made me laugh,’ and she was showing me on her phone,” she explains. “We love it. Any time people are excited about us taking pictures of our fingers up each other’s noses, we’re like, ‘Okay, sure.’ We kinda fancy ourselves just like any girl group.”

One recent reunion happened this past May when Lively and Bledel attended the premiere of Tamblyn’s directorial debut Paint it Black. For fans of the Sisterhood, it’s a fun bit of trivia to see Tamblyn following in her character Tibby’s footsteps as a filmmaker. Though, she admits, she didn’t ever think about that connection — “I kinda even forget Tibby was a filmmaker in that first movie.”

Though Tamblyn can now add director, writer, and producer to her list of job titles, we’ll keep our fingers crossed this movie happens “sooner rather than later” to find out what Tibby is up to now.
