T-rex leads orchestra in performance of Jurassic Park theme

Last March, Colorado Symphony conductor Christopher Dragon suited up as a T-rex to lead the ensemble in a performance of John Williams’ Jurassic Park theme. Now, the musical moment is getting a new surge of attention after a video from the concert was posted to social media.

The video, which was shared by @TheLeanMarie on Wednesday, was recorded by Twitter user @janellebowen, who wrote, “I recorded this video last year at the Colorado Symphony Orchestra tribute to comic con concert!! I was sitting close to the stage and I was there enjoying every minute of it.”

The geek-centric concert, titled A Symphonic Tribute to Comic Con: The Tetralogy, also featured music from the scores to The Nightmare Before Christmas, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Star Wars, and Game of Thrones. Violinist Sandy Cameron had also joined the symphony for a concerto inspired by the music of Assassin’s Creed.

Dragon executed multiple costume changes throughout the performance, including one where he emerged as Beetlejuice. But his T-rex for Jurassic Park is still making waves online.
