Lucy Hale helps a couple out of a rut in threesome comedy The Unicorn trailer

Welcome to “Gandhi’s dorm room,” a place where Lucy Hale of Pretty Little Liars fame will be the relationship pick-me-up for one severely unprepared — but open — couple.

Lauren Lapkus (Holmes & Watson) and Nick Rutherford (Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot) are said couple, as shown in EW’s exclusive trailer for The Unicorn, the new threesome comedy from director Robert Schwartzman (Dreamland).

Malory (Lapkus) and Caleb (Rutherford), having been engaged for four years at this point, hit a bit of a rut. They learn (through no comfortable manner) from the example set by Malory’s parents that the apparent secret to a healthy, happy relationship are threesomes — and lots of them.

Her parents, sidebar, are played by Vacation savant Beverly D’Angelo and John Kapelos. If you were wondering where Paulette’s pup-stealing ex-husband from Legally Blonde was instead of Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” music video, you’ll find Kapelos in The Unicorn.

Feeling like they need some pep in their steps, Malory and Caleb set out into one wild night to shake things up. Along the way, they meet eccentric, sex-positive characters played by Hale and Saturday Night Live‘s Beck Bennett, while discovering what’s really important in their relationship.
