John Boyega wants to make an Attack the Block sequel

'Star Wars' actor happy to reprise role of aliens-battling Moses "if the supporters want it"

John Boyega has been a pretty busy gent over the past few years, with major roles in Detroit, Pacific Rim: Uprising, and, of course, the Star Wars franchise. But the British actor is prepared to find time in his calendar for a sequel to the low budget movie that introduced him to cinema audiences, 2011’s alien invasion film Attack the Block.

Earlier today, Boyega, who was raised in the London district of Peckham, posted a shot from Attack the Block on Instagram, which found his character Moses being pursued by a clutch of extraterrestrial monsters. Later, in response to the blunt question “Sequel?,” Boyega responded, “if the supporters want it then I’ll have to get back to Peckham ASAP.”

Although not a huge hit on its release, Attack the Block has become a cult favorite over the past few years, in part thanks to its cast of up-and-comers, also including current Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker. Recently, the movie was positively featured in the documentary Horror Noire, which traces the relationship between the horror genre and the black community, and debuts on Shudder, Feb. 7. Attack the Block was written and directed by Joe Cornish, whose second feature, The Kid Who Would Be King, is currently screening in cinemas.
