New Hagrid roller coaster flies into Orlando's Harry Potter world this summer

Universal Orlando Resort’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park is conjuring a brand-new ride for its Muggle guests this summer.

Friday brought the reveal of the ride’s name and debut date: It’s Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and it’ll be ready to ride at Harry Potter world’s Hogsmeade on Universal’s Islands of Adventure this June 13.

Specifics are scarce and the only description offered in an official press release calls it “the most highly-themed coaster yet.”

“For the first time ever,” it continues, “guests will fly with Hagrid on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the path of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.”

Based on his handling of the motorbike at the beginning of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Hagrid already isn’t the most secure driver. In other words, we’re expecting turbulence from this ride.

Will this be a VR coaster similar to Florida’s Escape From Gringotts or the Forbidden Journey ride at the Universal Studios Hollywood location? Will it be more of a traditional roller coaster like the Dragon Challenge? Who knows?! A rep for Universal Orlando did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment and the announcement teases that “more details about the incredible new experience will be revealed in March.”

In the meantime, we have this promo image of Hagrid guiding guests through the Forbidden Forest around Hogwarts as a pesky pixie hovers nearby. We’re already predicting Gilderoy Lockhart’s favorite pests to pull off some trick like dismantling the tracks.
