Jack Quaid 'incredibly sorry' for killing Amandla Stenberg's Rue in The Hunger Games

Freeform aired The Hunger Games on Saturday night and fans were reminded of a major death—and the budding star who played the perpetrator released an apology.

Jack Quaid made his acting debut in the 2012 big-screen adaption of the popular Suzanne Collins novel about the nation of Panem set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future. Quaid portrayed the character of Marvel, one of the competitors in the Hunger Games, in which one male and one female from each district battle it out in a life-or-death match for survival.

In the film, Marvel kills 12-year-old Rue (Amandla Stenberg) during the 74th annual event accidentally while attempting to spear the film's protagonist Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). Katniss promptly shoots Marvel in the chest with her arrow, leaving one less participant in the fatal competition and avenging Rue's demise.

"Wait, Jack Quaid killed Rue?" a Twitter fan posted with a screenshot of Quaid.

Quaid, who currently stars in the Amazon Prime series The Boys, replied, "Oh s---, that's right. Sorry"

The actor son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid added, "In all fairness, I met my demise VERY quickly afterwards. I was brainwashed by my luxurious District 1 upbringing. But yes incredibly sorry."
